Sunday 30 March 2014
Ro and I headed for the market again today to rid ourselves of more of our unwanted collected memorabilia and trappings. Ro had her van almost filled to the gunnels as was my car. We were up at 0500hrs and met there at 0600hrs - the early bird catches the worm as you know, and in this instance, a strategic spot for maximum exposure and hopeful sales.
Dealing with the great unwashed and determined hagglers!
However, dealing with the 'great unwashed' as my Mother used to call them, can be a bit challenging and after a couple of hours of people wanting things for virtually nothing, one is ready to QUIT. Nevertheless we stuck with it and going by the weight of Ro's 'money bag' at the end of the day, she had added considerably to her piggy-bank. Even better, she had considerably less 'trap' to take home until the next time.
It is fascinating though to observe the same 'vultures' (Antique Dealers) every Sunday as well as those who have nothing else to do on a Sunday morning. Most people want something for nothing by haggling inappropriately - I usually give them a polite flick . So, if you are thinking of visiting my stall when I next have one, be prepared to pay a fair price for a good quality item.
