I am new to this web site thing, so bear with me.  I only have my learner's licence and will no doubt make the odd blunder along the way.  Please feel free to offer suggestions where I could improve my content and layout.  Thanks.  I won't rave on anymore about who I am and will now work on putting my creativity on view.  See you again soon.

Sunday Trash and Treasure Market

29/3/2014

Sunday 30 March 2014

Ro and I headed for the market again today to rid ourselves of more of our unwanted collected memorabilia and trappings.  Ro had her van almost filled to the gunnels as was my car.  We were up at 0500hrs and met there at 0600hrs - the early bird catches the worm as you know, and in this instance, a strategic spot for maximum exposure and hopeful sales.

Dealing with the great unwashed and determined hagglers!

However, dealing with the 'great unwashed' as my Mother used to call them, can be a bit challenging and after a couple of hours of people wanting things for virtually nothing, one is ready to QUIT.  Nevertheless we stuck with it and going by the weight of Ro's 'money bag' at the end of the day, she had added considerably to her piggy-bank.  Even better, she had considerably less 'trap' to take home until the next time.

It is fascinating though to observe the same 'vultures' (Antique Dealers) every Sunday as well as those who have nothing else to do on a Sunday morning.  Most people want something for nothing by haggling inappropriately - I usually give them a polite flick .  So, if you are thinking of visiting my stall when I next have one, be prepared to pay a fair price for a good quality item.

HEY! GUESS WHAT I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS!

I got this website for Christmas from my wonderful friend Ro!
So now I'll be able to share some of my creative work on line ....

Here goes.  As I have said in my 'who am I section', I still have my L plates so writing a blog will possibly be a bit of a challenge for the reader.  However, let me 'blog on' with a few inspirations I have had in the last few days.
Yesterday I joined my stitching friends for a day of 'stitch and chat'.  I should add 'laugh a lot' to that too.  We had a great day, sitting around the table at our friend Linda's cottage, al fresco under the shade cloth.  Stunning coffee, delicious food and of course lots of talk about embroidery.  We did actually achieve quite a lot along with the socialising.

I visited the local library on Saturday after my usual shopping at the Nelson Flea Market.  I go every Saturday and join the throng for fresh fruit, veges, coffee and chatting up the stall holders.  I have made heaps of new friends by loitering at different stalls and chatting up the owners.

Anyway, as I was saying, I went to the local library and while browsing the 'display stand'  - the books you cannot yet borrow but can put on hold - I found wonderful one on Art Deco Design and another on beautiful Asian blue and white porcelain.  These books are coffee table numbers really, but do stimulate one's senses and imagination for future embroideries or art projects.  Have you visited your local library lately and taken yourself into a new realm of creativity to stimulate your imagination?  I try and step out of the box and find books that I would not usually borrow and then go on a journey of discovery.  It is a great way to rev up your senses and imagination.
